We are excited to welcome dancers to audition for the FDA Competition Team for the 2026–2027 season.
The Competition Team is designed for dancers who are interested in competing as part of a team while continuing to grow their technique and performance experience. Dancers selected for the team will participate in two group competition dances and rehearse together weekly throughout the season.
May 4 – Competition Team Auditions Day 1
Studio A | 4:00 – 4:45 PM | Ages 7 & Under

Studio A | 5:00 – 6:30 PM | Ages 8–11
Style: Musical Theatre

What to Expect at Auditions
Dancers will participate in a short warm-up, across-the-floor exercises, and will learn a choreography combination that they will perform for the instructors.
No prior dance experience is required to audition for the Competition Team. We treat auditions as a positive learning experience so dancers can gain confidence and exposure to the audition process.

Team Commitment
Dancers selected for the Competition Team will commit to:
Weekly Competition Team rehearsal
At least one weekly technique class
At least one additional dance class
Participation in 3 competitions during the season
Specialty Dances
Competition Team dancers may compete in one specialty dance (solo, duet, or trio).
If your dancer chooses to compete a specialty dance, they must be enrolled in the style they are competing in.
Example: A dancer performing a contemporary solo must also be enrolled in a contemporary class.

Protégé Company Audition Age (4-7)
Protege Company Audition
2026–2027 Season
Ages 4–7
The Protege Company is designed for young dancers who are ready to begin training in a focused and competitive environment. This program serves as a direct training pathway into the FDA Company program and is intended for dancers who are eager to grow, work hard, and develop strong technical foundations at an early age.
Protege dancers will train approximately 7 hours per week in a structured schedule designed to build strong technique, performance skills, and versatility across multiple dance styles.
Throughout the season, Protege dancers will participate in competitions and conventions (such as Jump, Revive, Radix etc) , gaining valuable experience learning from industry professionals while developing the discipline and expectations required for higher-level training.
Audition Details
Dancers will participate in a warm-up and learn choreography that they will perform for the instructors.

Solo Recommendation
We strongly recommend that all Protege dancers perform a solo during the competition season, as it helps build performance confidence and prepares dancers for future Company training.

Company Auditions
2026–2027 Season
Company auditions are by invitation only and are designed for dancers who are ready for an advanced level of training and performance.
The FDA Company program is a pre-professional training environment focused on developing strong technique, artistry, and versatility across multiple dance styles. Dancers in this program commit to a higher level of training and performance opportunities throughout the season.
Audition Format
This year, Company auditions will take place over two separate audition days:
Ballet Audition
Focused on ballet technique and foundational skills.
Jazz / Style Audition
Includes warm-up, across-the-floor work, and learning choreography.
Dancers must attend both audition days to be considered for Company.

Ages 3 and up join is for this super fun day! Dancers will learn tumbling and acrobatic skills age appropriate .
Hip Hop Intensive
Popping, locking, choreography and free style. Dancers ages 6 and up join us for this epic opportunity. Dancers will be split up amongst other dancers with the same skill level and age .
Technique Intensive

A clinic in turns, jumps, flexibility, and work to gain confidence for High School Tryouts.

Ages 3 and up join is for this super fun day! Dancers will learn tumbling and acrobatic skills age appropriate .
Musical Theater Intensive
Dancer 6 and up, join us for a three day intensive. Dancers will learn choreography, songs and moves to popular musicals of today!

Each year in December Flatirons Dance Academy puts on a full production of The Nutcracker ballet. All dancers at Flatirons Dance are invited to audition for this magical performance. Dancers can expect to deepen their ballet training and performance skills while meeting new friends and having fun! Auditions take place in June, followed by main characters and solo choreography in July & August. Full cast rehearsals begin in August on Friday evenings with performances in December.
Contemporary Intensive
Join us for a contemporary ( formally lyrical) intensive. Open to ages 6 and up. The class will be split into different classrooms and groups dependent upon age and skill.
Cheer & Poms Camp
Join us for cheer, stunts, chants and fun !! Ages 5 and up always enjoy this fun camp !!

Company – A Full-Time Competitive Dance Commitment
The Company is for dancers looking to fully commit to competitive dance as their primary activity. It is a pre-professional program designed for dancers who want to be challenged in multiple styles, train at a high level, and grow as performers. Company members will participate in more than two group dances, have additional performance opportunities, and be expected to bring their best effort to every class and rehearsal.
Company is a full-time sport commitment—dancers in this program must be ready to prioritize their training.
Requirements:
✔️ Must take at least two weekly ballet classes
✔️ Must take at least one weekly technique class
✔️ Must be registered in all the classes for their competing styles (including solo styles)
✔️ 3 competitions + 1 competition & convention + 1 classes-only convention
✔️ Mandatory Fall Classes-Only Convention
✔️ Production Dance (Company Only) – performed at 3 competitions
✔️ Minimum of 6 hours of dance per week
✔️ May compete in up to two specialty dances (limited to one solo)

Recital 2025
As a reminder everyone will participate in the recital on May 9 ( dress rehearsal ) and 10 (Recital) . The recital is split up into multiple mini shows based on the days of week they dance. The studio will measure dancers for their costumes for recital . Costume fee’s will be automatically charged to your accounts on March 15. Costume fee’s are $85 per dance. The recital will be held at Pinnacle Charter School, please see dress rehearsal and recital times below. We are so excited to get these dances started and for you to see your dancers shine on stage!

Picture Week
All students will participate in recital week at the studio. Dancers will wear their hair in a low bun with a middle part. Costumes will be passed out the beginning of March.
